Introduction to Goals

Previous: Students: Custom Fields

Goals are the primary organizational element in EdReady. All student work is in the context of goals. For students, goals organize the scopes that they work on and are presented as unique paths of study. For reporting users, goals act as a way to group students together. You can also use private goals to manage access permissions (e.g., for FERPA compliance). We recommend that you browse EdReady’s support site for more information about the different ways that goals can be used to achieve your custom EdReady needs.

This tab allows you to add and edit goals for your EdReady site:

The available goals can be sorted & filtered to easily allow you to find the specific one you’re looking for. To limit the scopes displayed, enter text in any of the available filter textboxes or make a selection for the filter dropdown: the list of scopes below will automatically update to only include those that meet the filter criteria. If you've used tags to identify goals, you can Search by tags across all rows.

You can edit the columns displayed on-screen here by clicking the "+" button above the table. (More information on how tables in EdReady are displayed can be found here.)

You can also sort the displayed information by clicking the arrows in each column header: click once to sort alphabetically ascending (A-Z) and click again to sort descending (Z-A).

The information displayed in the goals table is also available as an Excel download – just click the Email Data button above the table.

Understanding Goal Properties
Before getting into the details of how a goal is created, it is helpful to understand the parts of a goal. Click the Edit button for any listed goal.

There are four main components to an EdReady goal:
