This article contains the following information:

Post-Diagnostic Messages Overview

The "Post-Diagnostic" messages will be displayed on-screen immediately upon completion of the associated test activity. The Initial Diagnostic message is displayed only once, but the Topic Test and Unit Test messages will display after to every test attempt.

Note: details on accessing the Study Path Options messages can be found here.

In the Content area, indicate the message you want all your users to see.

Limit Zones

If desired, you can display additional messaging to students based on their diagnostic score:

  • If all students should see the same message (entered in Content), select No Limit
  • If students should see a different message based on their score, select one of the following:
    • One Limit: allows you to display a different message to students who are above or below a score threshold

      • Students that are below your selected Score will see the Below the limit message
      • Those that are at/above the Score will see the Above the limit message.
    • Two Limits: allows you to display a different message to students who fall into one of three categories: below lower limit score, above Upper Limit score, and in-between the two scores.

With this approach, you indicate two scores: Lower limit and Upper limit:
      • Students that are below your the Lower Limit score will see the Below the limit message
      • Students that are at/above the Lower limit, but below the Upper limit will see the Middle Zone message
      • Those that are at/above the Upper limit score will see the Above the limit message.
If you have more than one study path in this goal and you are using the Study Path Sequence functionality to lock some study paths by default, you may want to use the Unlock next study path option. When enabled, you can enter an Unlock score: if a student earns that score in the initial diagnostic, the next study path will be unlocked automatically.  postDiag_ID_unlock.png

When enabled, the Show the diagnostic score option will display the student's score on the initial diagnostic in this window.

The Show title option, when enabled, includes the text: You have completed this initial diagnostic.

If you'd like the student to receive a copy of this message via email, enable the Send email to student option. If anyone else should receive this email, enter their email address in the Other emails field.

Be sure to click the Save button when this message is first created and upon making any edits.

If you'd like to see how this message will display to students, click the Preview button and it will appear in a pop-up window. Note that this preview will show all messages (above & below threshold) at once - this is just so you can verify that the formatting looks ok on-screen and your students will only see the message appropriate for them.

Unit Test and Topic Test

The post-diagnostic Unit and Topic Test messages have two different messages that can display to students: one for students who have Mastered the concepts tested, and one for those that have not. A status of "Mastered" is awarded if the student shows mastery of all (100%) the covered Learning Objectives in this topic or unit. (It is not calculated at the question-level.) You can learn more about the different statuses HERE

Students that master 100% of the tested concepts will see the message entered in the Mastered area. All other students will see the Not Mastered message.

Both the Unit Test and Topic Test have an option to Enable Test Score Details. When enabled, students will see the score they have earned on the tested learning objectives (this score is not calculated on the number of questions correct): "You have earned x out of x possible points, or x% correct."

The Topic Test also has an additional option available: Enable Learning Objective Details. When active, students will see a list of the tested learning objectives and an indication of which ones have been mastered and not. postDiag_topic_LOdetails.png

If you want students to see this message on-screen upon completion of each Topic or Unit Test, enable the On Screen setting.

If you would like the student and/or another address(es) to receive an email copy of this message, you can enable the Email setting:
