When will the program suggest that Foundation lessons be assigned?

Each unit has a specific set of Foundation lessons (in the Resources area) that an instructor should assign for that unit.

Based on research and focus group input, we placed the Foundation lessons in the Resources area to allow maximum flexibility for each instructor. Instead of placing the Foundation lessons in a specific activity, this allows an instructor to assign them at any time during the unit, based on what aligns best with his/her teaching approach.

While they are not specifically assigned, the Foundation lessons are linked in to some of the activities to support learning. For example, students can access a Foundation lesson from within the Grammar, Punctuation, Usage lens in the Active Reader. Also, once students complete the Review (mid-Unit quiz), they will be given a list of specific Foundations they need to study.
